What is IELTS?
The British Council, along with the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations and IDP Education Australia, conducts the global IELTS English-language standardization test. If you are looking to work, study or live abroad then you are required to take an IELTS test, a kind of a prerequisite, to secure a place in a University/College or to get a working VISA.
Who Conducts IELTS Exam in India:
The two official bodies, one of which is the British Council with its branches in 40 locations, and the other is IDP Education with its presence in 37 cities, conduct the IELTS Test in 78 centers across India.

How to register for the Exam:
First Have your ID ready:
You must have your valid ID Document, i.e. Passport Document ready with you while registering for the exam. This will be the ID that is required on the examination day too
How to register:
1. Check the IELTS test that meets your requirement. Be careful to choose between Academic and General Training, as both serve different purposes
2. You can register and pay online, just make sure that you have the payment by method ready. You can pay by bank card, through Demand Draft, or transfer the fee directly to the bank account given
Your Test Result:
1. You would get your results 13 days after your test. In the case of a computer-delivered IELTS test, the result comes within 3-5 days
2. You would either receive your Test Report by post or you can pick it up in person from the test center
3. You will also receive one copy of your Test Report Form. If however, you are applying to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) you will receive two copies
4. You can even have the nominated institutions receive copies of your IELTS test results, sent automatically on your behalf if you so inform the testing body
